my mother knew

she'd ask

where do you bury your dead?

and i'd say
I do not bury them
i stuff them in the attic
between the ceiling beams
under the pink Corning insulation
making for some very interesting stains
on our ceiling

she knew i kept a list
of those people
i wanted to kill

she'd ask

just where am i on that list ?

and I'd say

oh mom,,,,
